GLOSSARY OF TERMS

P


Parallel:
To transmit bits of information simultaneously (as opposed to serial which sends one bit at a time).


Pascal:
A structured programming language.


Peripheral:
An auxiliary device connected to a computer, i.e. a printer, modem, plotter.


Printer:
Any device that accepts information from the computer and prints it on paper. These would include dot-matrix, daisy wheel, plotter, ink jet, thermal, and laser.


Program:
A series of computer instructions that tell the computer to perform some function.
